Song Battle: "What to Do" vs "Stuck on You"

The title is pretty self-explanatory, but I'm still going to explain what this new "series" is. Basically, in these posts, I'm going to be comparing two songs that I think can fairly and rationally be compared. Just as a disclaimer, I respect both songs and artists. This comparison is just for fun, please don't take it too seriously. There may also be spoilers from the songs' respective shows.                             vs                              "What to Do" by Demi Lovato                                 "Stuck on You" by Ross Lynch         Overview:         "What to Do" sung by Demi Lovato, is a song released by Walt Disney Records from 2010, which heavily relies on its guitar/acoustic instrumentation. ...

My Favorite/Best Disney Channel Moments (Part 3)

Basically, this is the same concept as the first and second parts but includes different clips. Please if you haven't, go and read the other parts too. Of course, there are going to be major spoilers and all rights obviously go to their respective owner.         The first scene I'm going to be talking about is from the 2011 DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie), "Lemonade Mouth", which is based on Mark Peter Hughes' 2007 novel of the same name. "Lemonade Mouth" is how five high schoolers meet in detention and end up forming a band called 'Lemonade Mouth' and also help cope and mend with their lives using music and friendship. This is one of my favorite DCOMs and it actually has really good music.         When Lemonade Mouth is preparing for the 'Rising Star' competition, their worlds' seem to fall apart. Wen (played by Adam Hicks) injures his eye when his father (played by Bob Jesser) asks him to be his best man. The other remaini...

Ranking Selena Gomez' Albums!

Hi! This week I'm going to share my opinion on one of my favorite musical artists: Selena Gomez. This is all based on my personal opinion, so you don't have to agree. Currently, she has six studio albums (including "For You"). This list will only include her personal albums and will not include soundtracks or other projects. 6.  ("Stars Dance [Deluxe Edition]" Album Cover)          In sixth place, is Gomez' first solo album, "Stars Dance", which was released in 2013. The album mainly consists of dance-pop and has no real direction. While some of the songs can be enjoyable to listen to individually, the album as a whole represents more of a compilation of songs, rather than conveying a clear message.          Since this was also an 'introduction' to Gomez as an individual, I don't appreciate how many of the tracks are dance songs. This album also seems to try too hard to make Selena Gomez look 'grown-up' and t...

The Importance of Theme Songs

Theme songs are important, but today I'm going to highlight why. Theme songs set viewers up for the upcoming episode and create anticipation. They also allow viewers to sing along with the cheesy lyrics and dance to the infectious music, creating happy memories. Theme songs allow the writers of the tv show to display the show's values and purpose in a song for many to enjoy, every time they watch the show.  Here are some theme songs that are popular:  1. "Drake & Josh" (2004-2007) In Nickelodeon's "Drake & Josh", Drake Parker (played by Drake Bell) and Josh Nichols (played by Josh Peck), two very different teenagers, suddenly become brothers, when their families converge. The show is very enjoyable and funny, and many remember it for its theme song.  In the theme song, "I Found A Way", which was sung by Drake Bell, Bell sings that even though it seemed crazy and difficult to become brothers, he eventually found a way...

Brenda Song's Return!

Guess who's back on Disney Channel? I mean you should probably already know, considering you clicked on this post.          With the return of Raven- SymonĂ©  in 2017, people were left wondering what shows would be rebooted and which of their favorite actors and actresses would be returning to the Disney Channel.          Recently, there has been a "Kim Possible" live-action, movie remake and there is a High School Musical tv show reboot in the works, which honestly reminds me of the failed "Madison High" tv show, which was rumored to star Luke Benward, Katherine McNamara, and G. Hannelius.          I personally believe that this new era of Disney Channel is mainly based on nostalgia. I enjoy watching "Raven's Home" and the "Ducktales" remake and both are major reasons as to why I still watch Disney Channel. Both shows are good moves for the network.            I did...

"Andi Mack" is Cancelled!?!

I was planning on writing about the importance of theme songs, but here I am, writing about the cancelation of one of my favorite Disney Channel tv series.          I don't think much can be done about the cancelation now. I should have seen it coming, every four or so years, a new era begins in Disney Channel, and with it, it's old shows are discontinued. I don't want to say that "Andi Mack" will die with the new era, because I know that it will live on to remind Disney Channel viewers of its import impact.          "Andi Mack" has made Disney Channel history, by covering topics like teen pregnancy, learning disabilities, hearing deficiencies and celebrating diversity. The show talks about military families, cultural diversity, lgbtq+ acceptance, the importance of therapy, and anxiety. I think this is one of the most progressive Disney Channel shows to air.          I remem...

Why I Write About Children's Programming

The reason that I write mostly about children's programming is that it's something that is important to me. It's a big part of my life and who I am today.         The main reason why Disney Channel (+ their branched off channels like Disney XD) and Nickelodeon (+ their branched off channels like TeenNick), for example, have a big part of many people's childhoods or memories is because of the nostalgia and good feelings that may relate to these corporations. Many of the works that these corporations put out aren't masterpieces but because of the nostalgia that people correlate with these tv shows or films they seem, for lack of better words, 'pieces of art'.         I, myself, am biased to specific tv shows and tv films because I relate them to the 'good old times' or just times when I could lose myself and ignore reality for a twenty-minute episode or short tv film.       ...
