Song Battle: "What to Do" vs "Stuck on You"

The title is pretty self-explanatory, but I'm still going to explain what this new "series" is. Basically, in these posts, I'm going to be comparing two songs that I think can fairly and rationally be compared. Just as a disclaimer, I respect both songs and artists. This comparison is just for fun, please don't take it too seriously. There may also be spoilers from the songs' respective shows.

       Overview:

"What to Do" sung by Demi Lovato, is a song released by Walt Disney Records from 2010, which heavily relies on its guitar/acoustic instrumentation.
The song was featured on the "Sonny with a Chance" official soundtrack album, but was also showcased on "New Girl" (Episode 26, Season 2), the series finale of "Sonny with a Chance". "Sonny with a Chance" is a Disney Channel show that follows the life of Sonny Monroe (played by Demi Lovato), as she moves away from her hometown in Wisconsin to star in her favorite tv show, 'So Random', which was a sketch comedy show.
After Sonny dumps her boyfriend, Chad (played by Sterling Knight), she writes and performs "What to Do", to explain the confusion she felt during their relationship.

"Stuck on You" sung by Ross Lynch, is a song released by Walt Disney Records from 2013, which also primarily relies on its guitar/acoustic instrumentation.
The song was featured on the "Austin & Ally: Turn It Up" official soundtrack album and was also showcased on "Critics & Confidence" (Episode 10, Season 3). "Austin & Ally" is a Disney Channel tv show that documents the lives of Austin Moon (played by Ross Lynch) and Ally Dawson (played by Laura Marano), as Austin becomes an online sensation by singing a song that was written by Ally.
When Austin receives an unpleasant review from a credible reviewer, he becomes determined to impress the unsatisfied critic. Austin sings "Stuck on You", as an attempt to captivate the critic.

        Similarities/Differences:

Obviously, as I've mentioned this before, the production on both songs are very similar. Both songs have a very fun and relaxing aesthetic. However, the similarities don't stop there. The lyrics also display a connection between the two songs.

In "What to Do", Lovato sings: "Tell me what to do, about you. Is there any way, anything I can say, won't break us in two. 'Cause it's been a long time coming. I can't stop loving you. Tell me what to do about you."

In "Stuck on You", Lynch sings: "So forgive me, if I'm doing this all wrong. I'm trying my best, in this song, to tell you. 'What can I do? I'm stuck on you'."

Even though, the songs were performed during different circumstances, with "What to Do" being about a breakup and "Stuck on You" being about the 'crush' phase, there is still a noticeable similarity between both songs.

        Final Thoughts:

When I first heard "Stuck on You", I immediately thought of "What to Do", a song that I had already loved. I love both songs, and I actually have difficulty choosing a favorite. What are your thoughts? Do you think that these songs can be compared fairly? Which song do you personally like better?

Why High School Musical & Descendants Are the Same

vs          To clear up any misunderstandings, I understand that both franchises were directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega so they will have some similarities in their layouts.         "High School Musical" is a DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) that was released in 2006. The movie conveys the message of breaking free of quotas and being your true self, no matter what labels people put on you, through various different musical numbers. The movie follows star basketball player Troy Bolton and overly 'smart' Gabriella Montez, and how music unites the two unexpected couple together.         "Descendants" is a DCOM that was released in 2015, almost ten years after the release of the original High School Musical. The movie teaches the audience that you must make your own choices in life, and you do not have to live the same lives as your parents, even if that is what is expected of you. The musical follo...

Ranking Demi Lovato's Albums!

Hi! This week I'm going to share my opinion on one of my favorite musical artists: Demi Lovato. This is all based on my own opinion, so you don't have to agree. Currently, she has six studio albums. This list will only include her personal albums (except for "Moves Me" [2004] & "Demo" [?]). This will not include soundtracks or compilation albums from her other projects. 5.  ("Tell Me You Love Me" Album Cover)         In fifth place is her latest album, "Tell Me You Love Me [Clean] (Deluxe) + (Target Exclusive)" which was released in 2017.          I personally don't like this album. It's a good album, but I'm not the target demographic for this album, so maybe that's why I don't like it.          Many of the songs have a more adult theme, so parental consent is recommended.          The album is different from Lovato's previ...

My Favorite/Best Disney Channel Moments (Part 3)

Basically, this is the same concept as the first and second parts but includes different clips. Please if you haven't, go and read the other parts too. Of course, there are going to be major spoilers and all rights obviously go to their respective owner.         The first scene I'm going to be talking about is from the 2011 DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie), "Lemonade Mouth", which is based on Mark Peter Hughes' 2007 novel of the same name. "Lemonade Mouth" is how five high schoolers meet in detention and end up forming a band called 'Lemonade Mouth' and also help cope and mend with their lives using music and friendship. This is one of my favorite DCOMs and it actually has really good music.         When Lemonade Mouth is preparing for the 'Rising Star' competition, their worlds' seem to fall apart. Wen (played by Adam Hicks) injures his eye when his father (played by Bob Jesser) asks him to be his best man. The other remaini...
