The Importance of Theme Songs

Theme songs are important, but today I'm going to highlight why. Theme songs set viewers up for the upcoming episode and create anticipation. They also allow viewers to sing along with the cheesy lyrics and dance to the infectious music, creating happy memories. Theme songs allow the writers of the tv show to display the show's values and purpose in a song for many to enjoy, every time they watch the show.

Here are some theme songs that are popular:

1. "Drake & Josh" (2004-2007)

In Nickelodeon's "Drake & Josh", Drake Parker (played by Drake Bell) and Josh Nichols (played by Josh Peck), two very different teenagers, suddenly become brothers, when their families converge. The show is very enjoyable and funny, and many remember it for its theme song.

In the theme song, "I Found A Way", which was sung by Drake Bell, Bell sings that even though it seemed crazy and difficult to become brothers, he eventually found a way. It makes sense since the show is about two opposite teenagers and their journey to becoming brothers.

Fun fact: In the chorus of the song, the lyrics are not: "It's gonna take some time to realize", but in fact, the lyrics are: "It's gonna take some time to realign".

2. "Victorious" (2010-2013)

"Victorious" was a show that aired on Nickelodeon. The show focused on the life of Tori Vega (played by Victoria Justice), who recently was accepted at a musically focused high school.

The theme song, "Make it Shine", which was sung by Victoria Justice, focuses on encouraging viewers to find their inner light and talents and to follow their dreams.

Fun fact: There are multiple different versions of this song. Most notably the original and remix (from Season 2, Episode 8: "Helen Back Again").

3. "Austin & Ally" (2011-2016)

Disney Channel's "Austin & Ally" was a show about how, Austin Moon (played by Ross Lynch) and his songwriter, Ally Dawson (played by Laura Marano), become overnight sensations.

The theme song, "Can't Make it Without You", highlights how Austin wouldn't be anywhere without his friends: Ally, Dez (played by Calum Worthy), and Trish (played by Raini Rodriguez). The song itself is played and referenced to multiple times throughout the show.

Fun fact: In the first three seasons, Ross Lynch sang the theme song, but for the show's fourth and final season, the song became a duet between Lynch and Marano.

4. "Liv and Maddie" (2013-2017)

"Liv and Maddie" was a show that aired on Disney Channel. The show focused on how glamorous, Hollywood actress, Liv Rooney (played by Dove Cameron) comes home to Stevens Point, Wisconsin to spend time with her family, but most importantly her twin sister Maddie (also played by Dove Cameron). Liv and Maddie are complete opposites and learn to adapt and become in sync with one another.

In the theme song, "Better in Stereo", which was sung by Dove Cameron, Cameron sings about how the twins are better together, than when apart. The song is important to the series and there are multiple different versions.

Fun fact: There actually is a full version of the theme song version of the song, instead of only the theatrical-ish version!

Why High School Musical & Descendants Are the Same

vs          To clear up any misunderstandings, I understand that both franchises were directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega so they will have some similarities in their layouts.         "High School Musical" is a DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) that was released in 2006. The movie conveys the message of breaking free of quotas and being your true self, no matter what labels people put on you, through various different musical numbers. The movie follows star basketball player Troy Bolton and overly 'smart' Gabriella Montez, and how music unites the two unexpected couple together.         "Descendants" is a DCOM that was released in 2015, almost ten years after the release of the original High School Musical. The movie teaches the audience that you must make your own choices in life, and you do not have to live the same lives as your parents, even if that is what is expected of you. The musical follo...

Ranking Demi Lovato's Albums!

Hi! This week I'm going to share my opinion on one of my favorite musical artists: Demi Lovato. This is all based on my own opinion, so you don't have to agree. Currently, she has six studio albums. This list will only include her personal albums (except for "Moves Me" [2004] & "Demo" [?]). This will not include soundtracks or compilation albums from her other projects. 5.  ("Tell Me You Love Me" Album Cover)         In fifth place is her latest album, "Tell Me You Love Me [Clean] (Deluxe) + (Target Exclusive)" which was released in 2017.          I personally don't like this album. It's a good album, but I'm not the target demographic for this album, so maybe that's why I don't like it.          Many of the songs have a more adult theme, so parental consent is recommended.          The album is different from Lovato's previ...

My Favorite/Best Disney Channel Moments (Part 3)

Basically, this is the same concept as the first and second parts but includes different clips. Please if you haven't, go and read the other parts too. Of course, there are going to be major spoilers and all rights obviously go to their respective owner.         The first scene I'm going to be talking about is from the 2011 DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie), "Lemonade Mouth", which is based on Mark Peter Hughes' 2007 novel of the same name. "Lemonade Mouth" is how five high schoolers meet in detention and end up forming a band called 'Lemonade Mouth' and also help cope and mend with their lives using music and friendship. This is one of my favorite DCOMs and it actually has really good music.         When Lemonade Mouth is preparing for the 'Rising Star' competition, their worlds' seem to fall apart. Wen (played by Adam Hicks) injures his eye when his father (played by Bob Jesser) asks him to be his best man. The other remaini...
