My Personal Favorite DCOM! (Part 1)

        Princess Protection Program Poster

"Princess Protection Program" is a DCOM which was released in 2009, isn't the best DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) to have ever been made, but it is definitely one of my personal favorite DCOMs.
The premise of the movie is that Princess Rosalinda Maria Montoya Fioré, soon to be queen (portrayed by Demi Lovato) of the fictional country Costa Luna has to escape her country as its being invaded, but has to leave behind her mother. Under the 'Princess Protection Program' she will be protected as long as she stays in hiding in Lousiana with Major Joe Mason (portrayed by Tom Verica) and his daughter Carter Mason (portrayed by Selena Gomez). Rosalinda is told to disguise herself as Rosie Gonzalez, a normal teen girl.
Tomboyish Carter, similar to Selena's other role as Alex Russo from the Disney Channel show "Wizards of Waverly Place", and girly-girl Rosie have a difficult time adjusting to one another, but eventually, become the best of friends. The confident Rosie helps the insecure Carter see her own beauty and makes her realize that anyone can be a princess. They face everyday problems like bullies and loss of identity. They act more like sisters than friends and sacrifice themselves for one another.
Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez were best friends at the time of this film, and so their friendship was believable, and their on-screen chemistry seemed real. Both actresses played their respectful parts impeccably.
I grew up watching this DCOM, so I have a sentimental connection to the film. Friendship has always been very important to me, and this film hits me right in my emotions. Rosie's monologue near the end of the film always makes me cry because having a friendship like Rosie and Carter's is so hard in reality.
Because this is a Disney Channel movie there are a lot of plot holes and dumb scenes, but that doesn't lessen my love for this film by much. I've already established that this isn't the best DCOM, but it is one of my favorites.
Another reason I love this movie is that it has two of my favorite singers in it, and it produced the iconic "One and the Same" duet between Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.
I recommend this movie. What are your thoughts on "Princess Protection Program"? This is one of my favorite DCOMs, what's yours?

Why High School Musical & Descendants Are the Same

vs          To clear up any misunderstandings, I understand that both franchises were directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega so they will have some similarities in their layouts.         "High School Musical" is a DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) that was released in 2006. The movie conveys the message of breaking free of quotas and being your true self, no matter what labels people put on you, through various different musical numbers. The movie follows star basketball player Troy Bolton and overly 'smart' Gabriella Montez, and how music unites the two unexpected couple together.         "Descendants" is a DCOM that was released in 2015, almost ten years after the release of the original High School Musical. The movie teaches the audience that you must make your own choices in life, and you do not have to live the same lives as your parents, even if that is what is expected of you. The musical follo...

The Importance of Theme Songs

Theme songs are important, but today I'm going to highlight why. Theme songs set viewers up for the upcoming episode and create anticipation. They also allow viewers to sing along with the cheesy lyrics and dance to the infectious music, creating happy memories. Theme songs allow the writers of the tv show to display the show's values and purpose in a song for many to enjoy, every time they watch the show.  Here are some theme songs that are popular:  1. "Drake & Josh" (2004-2007) In Nickelodeon's "Drake & Josh", Drake Parker (played by Drake Bell) and Josh Nichols (played by Josh Peck), two very different teenagers, suddenly become brothers, when their families converge. The show is very enjoyable and funny, and many remember it for its theme song.  In the theme song, "I Found A Way", which was sung by Drake Bell, Bell sings that even though it seemed crazy and difficult to become brothers, he eventually found a way...

Is "Under Wraps" Really that Bad?

Is the 1997 DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) "Under Wraps" really one of the worst DCOMs? According to EOnline, it's the ninth worst DCOM to have ever been made.           The movie is aimed at a slightly older audience, like me, but it never goes out of its way to show that. It has believable characters, like Amy, the sarcastic one of the trio of friends who, inevitably find and awake a mummy, whom they call Harold. They embark on a journey to save Harold from turning into dust but instead learn a lesson about love.          The main character, Marshall, has trouble accepting that his mom is in a relationship with someone who is not his father. After seeing what troubles Harold, played by the voice of Patrick Star from the tv show "Spongebob Squarepants", Bill Fagerblake, goes through to see his love for the final time, he comes to a conclusion that his mom should be able to love whomev...
